Chitrakoot is in Satna district. Chitrakoot is one of the most important centers of Hindu faith and culture, and is known for its scenic beauty and its holiness. Chitrakoot is blessed by the gods and sanctified by the faith of pilgrims.
According to the Ramayana Ram, along with his wife Sita and brother Lakshman, left Ayodhya to live in forests for 14 long years. 11 out of the 14 years of Rama’s exile were spent in the jungles of Chitrakoot.
Here the great sage Atri and Sati Anusuya meditated; and the principal trinity of the Hindu pantheon, Brahma, Vishnu and Mahesh, took their incarnations.
Best time to visit Chitrakoot is October to March. |
