Orchha is in Tikamgarh. Orchha is situated on the Betwa river. Orchha’s grandeur has been captured in stone. Orchha was founded in the 16th century by the Bundela Rajput chieftain Rudra Pratap. Orchha is capital of Rudra Pratap. Orchha is now an abandoned land.
In 7th century AD famous Chinese pilgrim, Hiuen Tsang, visited Orchha and gave a vivid account of the kingdom of ‘Jejakabhuti’, which corresponds to modern day Bundelkhand and a small part of Bagelkhand as well.
